Clergy and Congregational Renewal - Greater Mt Nebo Church

GMNEBO is a recipient of the 2008 National Clergy Renewal Program awarded by the Lilly Endowment. The Endowment was founded in 1937 by family members of Eli Lilly and Company and was funded through donations of company stock.

Recognizing the importance and necessity for busy pastors to have an opportunity to take an extended break for renewal and refreshment, Lilly Endowment established the Clergy & Congregational Renewal Program. The program awards grants to churches that offer a program for the renewal of their pastor and, at the same time, gives the congregations an opportunity to enrich their churches as vital places of worship and mission.

For the Pastors, these renewal periods are times for intentional exploration and reflection and regaining the enthusiasm and creativity for ministry. Many renewal participants have reported that their vision for ministry was enlarged and that their call and commitment were renewed, upon their returned. For their congregations, this program can be transformative too.

The Endowment annually provides as many as 120 grants of up to $45,000 each to Christian congregations for the support of a renewal program for their pastor. Pastor Weaver is one of 138 pastors representing 133 congregations to be awarded this grant, in 2008.

Town Hall Meeting	March 27	10 am – Noon	This is an opportunity to learn and have an open discussion with Pastor and Sister Pam regarding their three-month clergy renewal and our congregational renewal.
Pan African Festival	May 15	9 am - 6 pm	This allows the congregation a chance to participate in the Festival and to say Farewell to Pastor and Sister Pam. Anointing Service and Reception be held Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Congregation Personal Introspection	May - August	TBA	This is an opportunity for the Greater Mt. Nebo congregation to take personal time to reflect on a series of questions and participate in an activity where they can demonstrate and share (optional) how God is speaking to them.
Bible Study	May - August		We will have our regularly scheduled Bible Study on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays with focus on the congregation renewal. This is an opportunity for members of the Greater Mt. Nebo congregation to renew their minds through corporate Bible study and to understand how God's Word answers the question, "What is the will of God for my life and for the Church?"
Immersion Workshops	June - July	TBA	This is an opportunity for the congregation to participate in four immersion workshops that focus on cultural and spiritual experiences about Africa and global missions.
An Evening with Pastor & First Lady	August	TBA	This is a Welcoming Home Celebration with Pastor and Sister Pam to share their and our experiences during this time of reflection, renewal, and recommitment.
