There were two trips to Rwanda,
Africa. The first trip was July 23, 2012 through August 6 2012.
The second trip was March 11, 2013 to March 23, 2013. The first trip was a combined medical
missionary trip. During the first trip, Dr. Nelson examined patients after the
missionary church services. On the first trip there were approximately 250
patients seen and treated. The first trip gave rise to the second trip which
was more of a medical missionary trip. During the second trip 600-700 patients
were seen and evaluated. Dr. Nelson was accompanied by three other physicians;
Cosette Lyons-Jones MD , Taleah Phillips MD and
Falyne J Frye MD (psychiatrist) as well as nurses, pharmacy assistants,
psychologists, and other medical personnel.
Rev. Cecelia Bryant and Pastor Jonathan Weaver provided the

they set up satellite clinics on church grounds.
HIV testing was performed, Hypertension evaluation and treatment, Diabetic
screening, eyeglasses prescribed, infectious disease processes were treated
with antibiotics and psychological and spiritual counseling provided.
At the Mohoko, AME Church the providers worked into the
night treating patients as they continued to line up outside of the church.
The team traveled to Ginsenyi evaluating and treating 100
men and women who crossed the border from Goma and other parts of the Eastern
Congo. Many of these patients were victims of violent crimes.
